The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez- Book Review

I am continuing by romantic comedy read this month and stumbled on the this book. Once again, I’m loving these female leads in the books I’ve been reading lately. The main character in this book is Kristen and she doesn’t put up shit and I love it. From the very beginning she calls it like she sees it which is extremely relatable. I would compare her to an onion and not in a bad way but because there are many layers to her and she has history that is heartbreaking. I also loved the character Josh, I mean who doesn’t enjoy reading about a good looking, smart, humorous firefighter. 😂 I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫. It was a fun read but thought that a few parts in the story kind of veered away from the story as a whole.

Synopsis:

Kristen Peterson doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren- Book Review

I’ve been on a Christina Lauren kick this month so since I love The Unhoneymooners I decide to read some of her other books. This is probably by second favorite book by Christina Lauren. I absolutely loved the main character Hazel. She was funny, witty, intelligent and extremely relatable. I loved this history and awkwardness between them. The story was so fun and took on multiple dates but not between the two of them but them pairing each other with blind dates. It was the perfect romantic comedy that makes you laugh out loud and makes you root for both Hazel and Josh. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. If you are looking for a fun, easy going and laugh out loud read then definitely pick this one up.

The Shape of Night by Tess Gerritsen- Book Review

I just finished this book and it’s a really good supernatural thriller. I was of courses hooked when I read that the main character had a pet cat. This book was extremely intriguing and hard to put down. My only hesitation is the part when it comes to the main character having sex with a ghost. If you can overlook that then this book was really good. I’ve loved Tess Gerritsen previous books so I knew that I had to read this one. I would give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the ARC. This book will be published October 1st which is perfect for a supernatural thriller during Halloween time.

Behind Every Lie by Christina McDonald- Book Review

I have been on a thriller/suspense reading kick lately and every book so far has been really enjoyable, including this one. This book was an absolute page turner. It goes deep into secrets and takes you down a story of emotions, grieving and trusting yourself. While some of the story was far fetched it still kept me intrigued with all the twist and turns. I also felt like the end was a little bit of a let down when it comes to Eva’s boyfriend/fiance and if you read this book you will know what I’m talking about. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I haven’t read the authors previous book The Night Olivia Fell but definitely adding it to my tbr list after really liking this book.

The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica- Book Review

This was such a great psychological thriller and I literally couldn’t put it down. I read this book in two nights because I couldn’t go long without knowing what was going to happen. Sadie Froust moves with her husband and two sons to tiny town in Maine because her husband’s sister had past away. They decide to let their niece live with them in the house she grew up in to help her niece cope with the loss of her mom. Their niece is Imogen has a dark presence about her so when a neighbor next door is murdered, Sadie can’t help but think about Imogen. This book is filled with so many secrets that intertwine the deeper you get into the story. And the ending is a shocker! I did NOT see it coming which made me love this book. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫. This book will be publish Feburaury 2020 and I recommend adding it to your tbr list. Thank you to @netgalley and @parkrowbooks and @Harlequinbooks for the ARC.

Undone by Karin Slaughter- Book Review

This is the third book in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter and quite possibly my favorite in the series so far. I was hooked from the first page all the way to the last page. The book introduces a new character, Sara Linton, who works for in the trauma center at a hospital but has also been a coroner in her past and is grieving the loss of her husband. I really like her character, she seemed smart and didn’t let people walk over her. The story jumps right in from the beginning which I absolutely loved. This book is dark and twist with a serial killing hunting young, thin brunettes around the Atlanta area. Once again, Karin Slaughter leaves out no details so prepare yourself for squeamish moments and details. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Even if you don’t read the first two books, this book could almost be a stand alone book. I promise you won’t want to put it down.

King Killer Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss- Book Review

This is such a great series. I loved the first book then read the second book, but am STILL waiting for the third because it hasn’t been released. I’ve literally been waiting for years! While it’s frustrating that the series isn’t complete, it’s still worth reading. It takes you on a story into a fantasy world full of magic and secrets. It’s like Harry Potter for adults. While I’ve only read two books of the series to rate, I would give this series so far ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The first book is my favorite. The second book was rather long and felt it dragged in the middle a little but the ending made the book so don’t give up.

The Perfect Wife by JP Delaney- Book Review

Let me start off saying that this book is complicated but once you get into the first few chapters it’s extremely hard to put down. As I read this story, I felt like I was diving into an episode of Black Mirror. A man created a robot that is identical to his missing (presumed dead) wife. Talk about creepy. JP Delaney left nothing out of this psychological thriller with a little scifi angle involved. The only negative is that the ending felt a tad bit rushed and with so much going on it was hard to keep up. I had to re-read the last couple of chapters because I got a little confused as to what was going on but I still felt satisfied with ending. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫. I will definitely be reading more of JP Delaney’s novels.

Mother Knows Best by Kira Peikoff- Book Review

Thank you @crookedlanebooks for gifting me this book! This is an original, great, fast pace, psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down! The story goes deep into questions of family, secrets and even science. I love the fact that the author did her research and was able to put in amazing twists that completely captured me. The concept of this book was completely unique and I hadn’t read anything quite like it which made me even more intrigued by the story. I felt that as the story unfolded it was easy to follow and the ending wrapped everything up perfectly with just enough suspense to keep me holing on. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I really enjoyed this book and recommend adding it to your TBR list. This book will be published September 10th.

The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter- Book Review

I don’t know how she does it but once again Karin Slaughter nails it. I loved this book and had the hardest time putting it down. I loved the sister dynamic in this story. They were extremely relatable and showed that not every family is close because it’s hard to let go of things even if you are family. I also loved how freaking badass they were. This book started off with a bang and then a few chapters in it slams you with another dramatic story and then a huge twist at the end that continued to make this book amazing. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It’s right behind Pretty Girls which is my favorite book by Karin Slaughter.
