The Institute by Stephen King- Book Review

This was my second Stephen King book I read earlier this year and absolutely loved it. I literally couldn’t put it down and read it in 3 nights. I really enjoyed this one because the story was so intriguing with a different twist. I fell in love with all the kids in this book and rooted for them until the very end! This story was engaging and King does amazing writing when it surrounds pure evil. He knows exactly how to get you hooked into a story of innocence and bring out the evil and selfishness of those around it. This one is a definite 5⭐ read!

Synopsis:
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis’s parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there’s no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents—telekinesis and telepathy—who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and ten-year-old Avery Dixon. They are all in Front Half. Others, Luke learns, graduated to Back Half, “like the roach motel,” Kalisha says. “You check in, but you don’t check out.”
In this most sinister of institutions, the director, Mrs. Sigsby, and her staff are ruthlessly dedicated to extracting from these children the force of their extranormal gifts. There are no scruples here. If you go along, you get tokens for the vending machines. If you don’t, punishment is brutal. As each new victim disappears to Back Half, Luke becomes more and more desperate to get out and get help. But no one has ever escaped from the Institute.

Cross Her Heart by Melinda Leigh- Book Review

I have loved @melindaleigh1 books for years now, especially The Morgan Dane series. She is one of my go to authors because I love both her stories and her characters. I’m excited and already hooked on her new series, The Bree Taggert Series, which debuted in March! The characters are great and so easy to connect with and the story is intriguing with just the right amount of suspense/mystery and a little romance. Thank you to @netgalleyand @amazonpublishing for the ARC. This book came out it March but there is a second book in this series that is scheduled to come out in September and I’m so excited this story continuing. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

The Lantern Men by Elly Griffiths- Book Review

have loved this series since the first book and the latest book in the series did not disappoint. I love Dr Ruth Galloway’s character once again. I always come back to the series because her. This book offered the suspense and mystery that I love and the ending completely surprised me. This is the 12th book in the series and I love to continue reading about some of my favorite characters. The only problem I had was that this book takes place two years after the last book so I was a little confused and wondering if I had missed something while reading the first few chapters. Synopsis:

The Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight- Book Review

Thank you to #partner @harperbooks for gifting me this book! I flew through this one because I couldn’t put it down. It was so freaking good and such a great mystery/suspense book. I loved the main character Lizzie and felt she was easy to connect with which is always a plus when I feel a connection with the main character. @kimberlymccreightdid an amazing job with all the twist and turns in this story and completely surprised me with the ending. The last few pages had me biting my nails as all the truth was coming out! I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫.

The Night Swim by Megan Golden- Book Review

This book is definitely one of my favorites so far this year and I definitely give this one 5⭐. I was hooked from the first page to last. I love the way it was written in a podcast form in some the chapters and felt it was refreshing to read. The story was so good with so many great twists and turns that kept me wanting to read it faster and faster so I could find out all the answers. I also enjoyed the characters and really connected with them and the subject matter. This book does deal with rape so just a heads up but the author wrote it beautifully. This is a must read if you are looking for a suspense/thriller! This book will be published August 4th. Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for the ARC.

Author Highlight- Megan Miranda

Megan Miranda has some of my favorite thrillers to read during summer time. The characters are relatable and the stories always have so many great twist and turns! Thankfully I got into her books a little later than others so now I have a few more books of her that I haven’t read yet but are on my tbr list. She also has a new thriller called The Girl from Widow Hills which I read earlier this and will be published June 23 and it’s a must read! You seriously can’t go wrong with any of her books! So far my favorite of hers in The Last House Guest, it’s the perfect summer suspense book.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King- Book Review

Finished this book in the wee hours of the night last night. This has got to be the scariest Stephen King book I’ve read so far. The last quarter of the book had me extremely frightened and arguing with the characters actions. 😂 I really liked the characters, especially Jud. He was my favorite in this story. I do think the Pet Sematary movie made in the 80s did a great job sticking to the book. If you want a great horror/thriller book to read than read this one! Warning you may get scared reading this in the dark but that’s part of the thrill. It’s not as long as some of his other novels and it’s also fast paced. I give this book 5⭐️.

The River at Night by Erica Ferencik- Book Review

This was my first book that I read by @ericaferencik and I devoured it in two nights. I literally could stop reading and wanting to know how the story was going to end. This book was fast paced, relatable character and will keep you guessing! It’s not incredible deep but it give you just enough thrill and suspense that makes cheer the characters on this incredible girls weekend adventure. If you are looking for a fast paced book that you can able to read within a weekend then I highly recommend this one. I enjoyed this one so much that I just purchased her other book Into the Jungle. I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫.

Little Disasters BY Sarah Vaughan- Book Review

This is the first book I’ve read by @svaughanauthorand I absolutely loved it. It was fast paced and the characters were super easy to connect with. I also loved that this book touched on Postpartum Depression which is something that needs to be more talked about. It shared a raw perspective of Postpartum Depression and how easy it is to over look the struggles because you only choose to see what’s on the outside of someone’s daily life. The book was so captivating and the ending was a surprise that I didn’t expect. I can’t speak highly enough of this book and all the twist and turns of it. It is a must read suspense book! The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michelle Campbell- Book Review

Thank you to #partner @stmartinspress for gifting me this book. This is my first read by Michele Campbell. I started her book The Stranger on the Beach but never finished it. 😬 This book, I could not put down and I was hooked from the first page to the last. It took me on a wild ride and never knew where to look for the who done it. I really enjoyed the characters and all the secret and lies involved with them. If you want to read a great mystery suspense then definitely add this one to your book list! I haven’t read her previous book Stranger on Beach but have now added it to my tbr list! The Wife Who Knew Too Much will be out late July so be looking for it! I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
